Big Audio Dynamite - Turn On Your Radio. Futura Boombox.
Futura 2000 did a whole series of singles from this Nigo release, there are Biz and GZA ones as well. I had them at one time and foolishly sold them. I couldn’t let go of the God, Rakim, tho.
The Clash - Radio Clash - Tom Synder Show 1981. Features Futura 2000 live art in the background. Cool how groups like The Clash and Blondie exposed hip-hop culture to a mainstream audience. Futura designed the ‘This is Radio Clash’ single, and the Clash appeared on Futura’s own release on Celluloid (see previous post)
Futura 2000 designs on the back cover of 2 Celluloid releases, Fab 5 Freddy (‘82) and Phase II (‘83)- both also Graffiti writers. I wonder why Futura did the covers?
Tyrone Brunson- The Smurf 1982. Futura 2000 cover. For some reason the record company thought it was a good idea to put the red circle right over the piece- idiots! Its not even a sticker, its part of the graphic!
My favorite Futura 2000 record cover design, …scratch that, my favorite record cover design, period. Comes in a box, record opens up to pop-up design, and comes with a sick pack of Futura designed stickers. Why do downtempo records get the best design??
